Stassney Lane, Austin, Texas Shift: First ShiftSalary Plan/GradeTransportation Engineer II, B24: $59,004 - $96,720 yearly Transportation Engineer III, B25: $63,104 - $103,491 yearly Transportation Engineer IV, B26: $69,415 - $117,397 yearly Transportation Engineer V, B28 $83,991 - $142,052 yearly General DescriptionTransportation Engineer II or III:Performs complex to advanced transportation engineering and assists in the development and/or review of schematics; review of Advance Funding Agreements, preliminary bridge layouts, interstate access justification reports, frontage road requests, preliminary / interim reviews of PS&E at 30%-60%-90% stages of development, and design exceptions; reviews of release of access and preparation of Minute Orders; FHWA coordination; developing and performing training for the Districts; participation in meetings / conferences (design concept conferences, value engineering studies, major corridor meetings, risk workshops, etc.). May also perform and/or review operations analysis, safety analysis, final processing of plans, specifications, and estimates; prepare preliminary and final designs, and associated supporting documentation; provide support in the use of engineering software packages; and, assists with the updates to Division policies, guidance, design standards, and training as it relates to project development, engineering, and design. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with divisions and districts. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.DutiesThe essential duties for this job include:Transportation Engineer II or III:Acts in an advisory capacity on administrative, technical, regulatory and engineering aspects of transportation planning and project development.Analyzes and assists in the resolution of design issues or other matters relevant to project development in accordance to guidelines and policies.Travels to project/other work locations to make onsite engineering reviews, and to provide technical support.Performs reviews and/or engineering/design-related activities for preliminary engineering, including value engineering, advance project development / planning reports (alternatives analysis, operations analysis, safety analysis, etc.), and schematics, as well as reviews for plans, specifications, and estimates at various stages of project development, including, as needed, administrative / technical reviews and activities associated with final processing of plans, specifications, and estimates.Develops and/or reviews engineering-related documents, including correspondence, technical memorandums and reports, draft minute orders, funding agreements, etc.Prepare, as needed, preliminary and final designs, and associated supporting documentation, and provide support, as needed, in engineering software packages.Assists with the updates to Division policies, guidance, design standards, and training as it relates to project development, engineering, and design.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IV or V:Performs as Lead Worker;
