Mechanical Engineer Job in North Canton, OH
This is a mid-level Engineering position. The individual must work in an engineering team environment to provide complete engineering packages required to manufacture and assemble automated tool & die equipment.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITY: * Design of automated machinery and tooling. * Assume Project Lead as required. * Interface with vendors/suppliers regarding parts deviation. * Produce complete assembly and detail drawings. * Perform drawing/document revisions and Engineering Change Requests. * Construct/edit BOM's electronically through ERP and CAD systems. * Input and release of engineered components and assemblies to purchasing via ERP software. * Maintain project related documents, records, and files. * Attend/participate in engineering customer/supplier meetings. * Assist in creation and updates of machinery manuals. * Chair design review meetings for part and assembly designs. * Interface with shop floor assembly technicians to review design criteria/specifications, continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting. * Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, an emphasis on Machine Design preferred. * Associate's degree with relevant experience will be considered. EXPERIENCE: * 5-10 years previous experience in automated machinery. * Knowledge of good modeling/drafting practices and GD&T tolerancing required. * Minimum 5 years automation, motion control, and complex machine design required. * Machine design proficiency in automated equipment and tool/die industry required. * Tool & Die design experience is beneficial. * Experience in PLC-based electro-mechanical designs is beneficial. SOFTWARE/SKILLS: * 2D Autocad and 3D Solidworks solid modeling proficiency required. * Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word * Ability to exhibit ownership, demonstrate follow through and be held accountable for project completion, cost, and success. * Demonstrate exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills. * Must possess strong communication skills, efficient work habits and be self-motivated to succeed in an environment where engineering costs and schedules must be minimized for the company to be successful. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: * Work schedule generally consists of 45 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends. * Able to lift/maneuver 20 pounds. * Able to sit for long periods of time
